The next meeting of the Judicial and Legal Council was held on December 28. Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, member of the Judicial and Legal Council, Saadat Bektashi, attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council, Inam Karimov, provided information on the work done in the judicial field in recent times. It was noted that reforms are continuing to improve the quality and efficiency of justice. The judicial system is being improved in accordance with international standards, and the legislative framework regulating activities in this area is being fundamentally updated.
It was noted that the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan No. 65-VIIGD dated November 7, 2024 “On Amendments to the Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Courts and Judges” and “On the Judicial-Legal Council” will make a significant contribution to improving the quality and efficiency of justice.
The meeting also considered cases on disciplinary proceedings, evaluation of judges' activities and personnel issues, and adopted relevant decisions.
At the same time, the meeting discussed the regulations of the Judicial-Legal Council, the Judges' Evaluation Committee and the Appeals Council of the Judicial-Legal Council, draft laws on judges' certificates, and approved the structure of the apparatuses of the courts of first instance.
Later, the judges who were sent off to retirement were awarded honorary certificates for their significant contribution to increasing the efficiency of justice through their activities in the judicial system for many years.
Then, Sanan Hajiyev, a member of the Council and Chairman of the Civil Collegium of the Supreme Court, provided the Council members with extensive information on the rules and methodologies for evaluating judges.
